Stability

“A week after my accident, I was fitted with the SecuTec Genu Flex. I was immediately able to walk almost as usual, and I felt stable… Two weeks after my injury, I started training for the marathon with some adjustments to my training plan.” - Dr Staubach, orthopedist.

After a knee ligament injury he sustained while skiing, Dr Staubach developed knee instability that prevented him from putting strain on it. A week after his accident, he was fitted with the Flex, and a week after that, he was training for a marathon.

The Genu Flex achieves this level of support and stability through a combination of cushioned stays and straps that conform to the shape of the knee. These work to prevent damaging movements and relieve pressure on injured tissues, which not only assists recovery but can also help you stay active through it.

Comfort

“I was convinced by the brace right away, even when I held it in my hands for the first time. It clearly stands out from conventional standard solutions. The product is lightweight and provides enhanced wearing comfort. Our patients neither have pressure points nor do they complain about the product slipping.” - Dr. Nager, Medical Director.

Unlike regular hinged braces, the SecuTec Genu Flex has two flexible bands made of polymer chains. This means that, unlike a rigid or strap band, it can more comfortably adjust to movement without slipping down or pinching. For very active patients, it means you can easily wear it for a marathon (with your physio’s go-ahead, of course), as it conforms to the changing shape of the muscle.

You or your practitioner can add or remove these polymer chain pieces to accommodate different stages of muscle wasting and rebuilding that often accompany recovery following moderate to severe injuries.

Another great benefit of the Flex is that it is anatomically shaped and lightweight. Where other hinged supports on the market feel clunky, heavy, and uncomfortable, the Flex—as patients attest—is easy to wear throughout the day.

“It’s easy to think of compliance straight away – a lightweight, flexible frame brace helps enormously. It’s about protecting key structures but allowing movement and activity. A brace that accompanies patients during everyday activities is much more effective than a product that is perceived as an obstacle, resulting in the patient taking it off again quickly.” -  Dr. Philipp Rößler, Orthopedist and Trauma Surgeon.

Functional recovery

“Ralf... tore his anterior cruciate ligament on the pitch. I had to puncture his knee several times and immediately prescribed the SecuTec Genu Flex. After a week and a half, he was almost pain-free and he asked when he could restart his work as a programmer. His ambition was to take part in a game two months after the accident. So, together with the physical therapists, we created a training plan and I also prescribed a DiGA.” - Dr Staubach, orthopedist.

The SecuTec Genu Flex incorporates hinged stays with limitation blocks to restrict the knee’s range of motion (ROM) or immobilise it at a certain angle. This restriction is beneficial for ligament injuries, as it can help torn ends stitch back together.

Additionally, braces that relieve pressure on the joint can help reduce meniscus pain and support healing. Hinged braces also secure and stabilise the joint, preventing damaging side-to-side movements. As meniscus injuries form due to awkward twists and pivots, preventing such movements is essential to avoid interrupting healing.

For example, Dr Rößler’s patient Anna-Marie wore the Genu Flex throughout her acrobatic and dance training after tearing her PCL. While several physicians recommended surgery, Dr Rößler saw the necessity of a conservative approach. The PCL can, in many cases, heal with excellent results, even with a conservative approach. Further, Anna-Marie could not afford to cancel shows or workshops, so the Flex's sturdy, flexible, and lightweight support made it “exactly the right brace.”

To sum up

Whether you’re training for a marathon like Dr Staunbach or need to continue dance and acrobatic training like Dr Rößler’s patient, Anne-Marie, the SecuTecGenu Flex will be with you every step! Its comfortable and lightweight design ensures comfort. Its hinged stays will keep your knee firmly in place and prevent damaging movement. Last but not least, its specialised polymer chains will keep the brace firmly in place no matter your exercise routine or muscle changes.
