ACL Knee Braces

The most commonly injured ligament in the knee is the ACL. Ranging from grade 1 injuries such as strains and mild tears, all the way through to grade 3 injuries like full ruptures and detachments.

With most people commonly injured in sports, significant trauma to the knee can still cause it to be damaged. Protecting your knee joint with an ACL brace is one of the best ways to take care of the ligament, whether it's an old injury that flares up now and then, or it's a new problem that's got you off your feet.

Bauerfeind have spent decades with the world's best sports physiotherapists and surgeons to perfect ACL knee braces for all conditions, no matter the patient. If you're after an ACL brace, then Bauerfeind has you sorted.

How do I recover from an ACL injury?
ACL injuries are graded based on severity, with a mild strain or tear falling under grade 1 while a full rupture or separation is a class 3. Recovery changes depending on how serious it is, but in general reducing activity and movement of the ligament as targeted strengthening is the foundation, combined with bracing to protect the ligament and strengthen the surrounding anatomy, and in some cases, undergoing surgery.
Will these weaken my muscles?
While cheaper and less effective braces can cause an issue known as reliance (where the muscles become weaker and rely on the brace), Bauerfeind has perfected the blend of stability and movement. By restricting or immobilising specific parts of the ankle that need it, and freeing up the rest, you can continue to exercise, building and maintaining strength in the joint.
Can I wear these all day?
Virtually all our medical supports are designed to be worn for any length of time, whether it's half an hour after exercise to recover the muscle, or first thing in the morning to last thing at night.
How do I clean my knee brace?
Wash the compression braces on a gentle cycle, at a low temperature, and then allow them to air-dry. Ideally, the garments should be washed in a delicates wash-bag. Clothes dryers should be avoided as the high temperatures can damage the fabric and grade of compression. For hard braces, hand-wash in cool water and allow to air-dry. Putting them on and taking them off carefully is recommended, and for specific product care, refer to the product manual or contact our friendly staff.
How do I know they'll fit?
