When the bone is fractured, keeping the affected area still and minimising movement is the best way to recover it. However, this is easier said than done, especially if the issue isn't severe enough to warrant a cast (your doctor can help you there). For those cases where it's a milder fracture or further down the road to recovery, compressing the area medically provides not only relief from swelling and pain, but also activates the surrounding muscles to ensure the best natural stability and support.
