Best Knee Braces For Volleyball

WHY SHOULD I WEAR A KNEE BRACE DURING VOLLEYBALL?

Volleyball is a limited contact sport, however contact with the ball can cause various hand injuries. The impact of jumping movement to reach the ball can put the knee at a high risk of injury.

Wearing a Bauerfeind brace or knee support can minimise your chances of a volleyball injury by providing enhanced stability, proprioception and moisture-wicking medical-grade compression.

Bauerfeind knee braces can help to promote healing with the use of medical grade compression, something not found when using basic neoprene sleeves and braces.

HOW TO TREAT A VOLLEYBALL INJURY?

We recommend visiting a physiotherapist for treatment and advice on treating volleyball injuries. They may recommend one of the following treatments.
  • Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
  • Medial Collateral Ligament injury.  This occurs when the (valgus) force is too great for the ligament to resist and the ligament is overstretched. Treatment of an MCL injury varies depending on its severity. Always consult a physiotherapist to receive a full diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Jumper’s Knee. This is commonly known as Patellar tendonitis. Rarely does this condition require surgery. It can generally be treated using a combination of anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and exercise. A corticosteroid injection may also be used.
