Banded Shoulder Flexion: Strengthen the Rotator Cuff

Rotator cuff injuries and pain are extremely common. Sports, excess overhead movements, muscle weakness, and even poor posture can cause irritation and injury. Fortunately, strengthening exercises like banded shoulder flexion can help you strengthen and stabilise the joint, relieving pain and protecting against injury.

How to do the Banded Shoulder Flexion exercise

  1. Stand on one end of the band with your foot. The foot should be on the same side as your affected shoulder.

  2. Grab the other end of the band with your affected hand and lift it straight in front of you, keeping your elbow straight and your thumb pointing upward. Avoid retracting your shoulder or letting it shift forward.

  3. Slowly lower your hand back to the starting position.
