The ankle has three lateral ligaments on the outside which are likely to get injured due to the foot rolling inwards or outwards. The deltoid ligament is the main ligament present inside the ankle. Overuse of the ankle joint can cause a painful ligament tear. Lateral ligaments are at the highest risk of injury as they can rupture from the rolling inward and rolling outward movement of the foot. For conservative treatment, we recommend wearing Malleoloc L3 for lateral stabilisation of the ankle and Malleoloc for stabilisation of the medial ligament of the ankle. The Malleoloc range provides a high degree of stabilisation through the plastic shell. It immobilises the ankle joint to promote healing of the ruptured ligament. Whilst one can walk with a torn ligament, it’s is not recommended. Seek professional medical advice.
