Best Knee Braces For Cricket

WHY SHOULD I WEAR A BAUERFEIND KNEE BRACE WHEN PLAYING CRICKET?

Research has shown that injuries related to hamstring pulls and kneecap pain are very common during cricket. This is because of repeated sprinting and sudden direction changes which can be hard on your muscles and knee.

Wearing a Bauerfeind brace or knee support can minimise your risk of an acute or chronic cricket injury by providing enhanced stability, proprioception and moisture-wicking medical-grade compression.

Bauerfeind knee braces assist with healing and prevention using medical grade compression. These braces and supports aid in preventing and avoiding knee injuries from cricket.

The added support will help stabilise your joint without limiting your ability when batting, bowling, and being quick between wickets.

WHY NEOPRENE DOESN'T WORK

We do not recommend using a cheap neoprene knee brace or knee sleeves. These sleeves offer little support and do not wick moisture. Combined this decreases the durability of the knee brace.

Using a 3D weave and moisture wicking fabric, Bauerfeind knee braces are ideal for both everyday and sports use. As the old saying goes, you do get what you pay for.

If you feel niggles in your knee or have been diagnosed and a knee brace recommended as part of your treatment, choosing the right knee brace is key to a speedier rehabilitation journey and reduction in pain. Choosing the right knee brace will give you peace of mind when you play cricket.

HOW TO TREAT A CRICKET KNEE INJURY?

We recommend seeking treatment from a physiotherapist for treating a cricket injury. They may recommend one the following treatments.
    • Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
    • Patellar tendonitis. It can generally be prevented by avoiding over-training, noticing fatigue and wearing insoles with impact prevention. Treatment can include a combination of anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and exercise. A corticosteroid injection may also be used. Rarely does this condition require surgery.
    • Meniscal Injuries. We recommend taking a break from cricket as soon as you notice a catching and locking sensation, and get assessed by your physiotherapist.

Play it safe: Consult a doctor if you experience unusually intense and persistent knee pain.
