Best Knee Braces For Crossfit

WHY SHOULD I WEAR A KNEE BRACE DURING MY CROSSFIT SESSION?

Crossfit combines high-intensity weights with rapid movements.

However, any type of high intensity interval training carries the risk of injury forming, this is why it is important to use a qualified crossfit coach and compression supports in your training.

Knees are an easy target for injury due to the high pressure from weights while performing squat movements. Incorrect form and lack of stretching can increase your chances of injury further.

Bauerfeind knee braces help to promote blood flow with the use of medical grade compression, something not found when using cheap neoprene sleeves and braces.

This enhances crossfit performance as it reduces recovery rate time and eliminates lactic acid which causes cramps.

We recommend wearing the GenuTrain or Sports Knee Support to prevent knee injuries and enhance your mobility.

Protect and stabilise your knee joints so you can nail your next slam ball, overhead squat or rope climb.

WHAT HELPS KNEE PAIN WHEN DOING EXERCISE?

Stop exercising immediately and apply an ice pack two to three times a day for 20 minutes. Take pain-relieving medication such as ibuprofen, and see your doctor to see if you have damage to your knee and surrounding muscles and ligaments.

HOW TO TREAT A CROSSFIT KNEE INJURY?

We recommend visiting a physiotherapist for treatment and advice on treating common crossfit injuries. They may recommend the following treatments.
    • Strains or Sprains. Many sprains and strains can be treated with the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. A good physiotherapist can assist with the recovery however prevention is always better than cure.
    • Patellar tendonitis. It can generally be prevented by avoiding over-training, noticing fatigue and wearing insoles with impact prevention. Treatment can include a combination of anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and exercise. A corticosteroid injection may also be used. Rarely does this condition require surgery.
    • Ligament Tearing. Ligament tears generally always require surgery. A torn ligament rebuild uses a graft of tissue as the ligament will not generally heal properly otherwise. Surgery is often minimally invasive, however it can take time for the tear to heal.

Play it safe: Consult a doctor if you experience unusually intense and persistent knee pain.
