How it Works

Bauerfeind delivers nationwide with our reliable courier network for quick support when you need it. The specialised team at our flagship store based in the Sydney CBD are on hand to help you out. Our products may not require an Assistive Technology Assessment Form to be completed but it’s often a good idea to check with your plan manager, support coordinator or therapists before purchasing any products. If you click here Get Support and fill out our NDIS Enquiry Form we’ll be able to assist you in getting the support you need.

In order to purchase our Bauerfeind products through the NDIS, you’ll need to ensure that your NDIS plan includes Assistive Technology. Your NDIS planner will need to know what supports you require and how these supports are going to help in achieving your goals.

Bauerfeind and Assistive Technology

In order to purchase Bauerfeind products through the NDIS, you will need to ensure that your NDIS plan includes Assistive Technology. Your NDIS planner will need to know what supports you require and how these supports are going to help in achieving your goals, and Bauerfeind’s staff are on hand to help them find the right supports for you.

Assistive Tech explained

Assistive Technology provides the support a person with a disability might use to reach their potential at home, in the community and the workplace. Assistive Technology can be any support, system or equipment that helps you move around in your home, community may be equipment or systems which help you with moving around your home or community, help you communicate with other people, and perform all your other daily tasks.

Supports are included in your NDIS plan, where it is seen as a reasonable and necessary Support that will allow you to reach your goals and meet your needs. The NDIS will not fund items if they are more appropriately funded by another funding body/agency.

IDENTIFYING YOUR ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY NEEDS

Assistive Technology can range from really high to low complex, which covers all ranges of technology that can help in reaching your goals. It may be difficult to figure out exactly what range of assistive technology is the most suitable for you. This may require seeking some help to figure out what assistive technology solution is best for you, and your plan manager, therapists, GP or other healthcare assistants are the best point of contact here.

The process to access your Assistive Technology needs in your NDIS will depend on:

  • Your specific Assistive Technology needs
  • How complex your Assistive Technology needs are
  • How you manage your Assistive Technology budget

The NDIS

The NDIS helps people achieve their goals, which often include independent living, community participation, employment, education, health and wellbeing among other goals. The NDIS strives to provide individualised services to all its participants, as it recognises that everyone’s needs and goals are different. It also ensures the provision of flexibility for individuals to manage their plans and supports so they can reach their goals and dreams. The NDIS aims to provide consistency and certainty for people with disabilities, their loved ones and all those involved in their care.

The NDIS was created to replace a previous system which was ineffective, inefficient and unfair. This new national insurance scheme is aimed to be sustainable and equitable, and best of all the NDIS is a world-leading system. The goal is to provide Australian families and carers with certainty and consistency in care and allow all Australian families to have peace of mind that if their loved ones are born with or acquire a disability, that they will receive the support they need, when they need it.
