Catch and Release: at-home strength exercise
This exercise is intended to strengthen the muscles of the hand, wrist and forearm following an elbow injury.
For this exercise, you’ll need a sand weight. If you don’t already have one, you can create your own home using a sealable plastic bag filled with an appropriate weight of sand, dried beans or rice.
Begin the exercise in the standing position, then bend forward at the waist. Protect your back by supporting the weight of your upper body with the arm not being exercised.
From this position, simply release the bag from your hand and quickly grasp it before it falls to the ground. Relax and repeat.
If you have injured your elbow, the support and compression provided by the EpiTrain Elbow Support can help during rehabilitation. Additionally, if you are experiencing pain or tenderness in your wrist, the ManuTrain Wrist Support is ideal for mild to moderate arthritis, joint pain, post-op recovery, sprains and swelling.
Tennis Elbow?
If you are suffering from this painful condition, complete immobilisation is not necessary, in fact, it is highly advisable to seek regular physiotherapy. Consistent physiotherapy helps with targeted muscle training and is a proven effective treatment path.
The physiotherapy exercises can help promote the reorganisation of the muscles and are the most effective option to curb the disease. Exercises can help maintain the mobility and effective functioning of the joint and are best continued even after the symptoms have gone away.
